Seaweed could be the solution to obesity

The answer to obesity might lie in seaweed, according to researchers at Newcastle University in the UK.
The study found that paginate, a fiber that is found in the kelp, a type of brown seaweed reduces the body's fat intake by up to 75%. The percentage is better than that offered by most treatments for obesity. Now, the fiber is being added to bread, in an attempt to develop foods that help you lose weight. Clinical trials are focused on finding out how effective it would on a normal dieted Iain Brown lee, who co-led the team of Tees side, said: "This study suggests that if we add this natural fiber to products commonly eat, such as bread, biscuits, yogurts, until three-quarters of the fat in these foods, simply pass through the body.
Real solution
"We have experienced by adding the paginate to bread to begin screening and initial results have been very encouraging “The scientists used an "artificial gut" to test the effectiveness of 60 different natural fibers, measuring how far each of them influencing the digestion of fat. The findings were presented at the Spring Symposium American Chemical Society in San Francisco."The alleged miracle cures of overweight in the hundreds, but few cases have the proper evidence to support their allegations," said Dr. Brown lee."Obesity is a major problem and many people find very difficult to follow a diet and exercise to lose weight. These initial results suggest that paginates could provide a real solution in the battle against obesity."The paginates are already used in small quantities in food as thickeners and stabilizers.
Dr David Haslam, director of the National Obesity Forum, said: "Some products are sold as remedies for enormous prices, they simply do not work." This looks promising, but we could only start if the scientists suggest it can offer clear evidence based on rigorous evidence. "
